—A note from Courtney’s Coach, Sarah
Working with Courtney has been a complete honour of mine. She works hard and busts her ass no matter what I throw at her no matter what crazy sandbag exercise I come up with. Her determination and willingness to learn is inspiring! When I first met Courtney I knew she was going to achieve greatness.
I can still remember one time in the gym when I stepped a side from the session and just really took a moment to appreciate how far Courtney has come…. it actually made me smile from ear to ear because of how proud I was of her. You can completely see the difference in Courtney from when she started to where she is now, her confidence, strength and power have increased substantially. She has become a person other members look up to and aspire to be.
Courtney you are a true example of why I love what I do! Congratulations on all of your accomplishments thus far and I can not wait to see what this year has in store for you (probably more chin-ups and push-ups haha!)
But in all seriousness the Canadian Armed Forces are so lucky to have such an amazing, brave, strong, hard working person like you.
Let’s Crush 2020!!!!
I have been to a lot of different gyms and personal trainers in my life. Some with success and some with little to no success. I recently applied to join the Canadian Armed Forces and realized that if I got in, my personal fitness needed to be a lot stronger than it was. In the off-chance that I didn’t get into the CAF it didn’t change the fact that I wanted to be healthier.
In the past, my goal was always to lose a lot of weight and I found personal trainers that made that happen. What I didn’t find was balance in my weight loss programs. I was always working out twice a day, seven times a week and never ate anything that wasn’t on a prescribed list. I lost a lot of weight and was loving the way I looked, but I was killing myself to make that happen. A year later and after gaining some of the weight back, I decided a change in program was in order. I started seeing that losing weight wasn’t the sole thing I could look at as progress. I just wanted to feel better, stronger and healthier and the number on the scale wasn’t all that important to me anymore.
What I found at Lean Strong Fitness was exactly the program I was looking for. Starting at another gym, with new trainers, you never know if it’s going to be the right fit. What I found were some great trainers who tailored my workouts for the goals I was trying to achieve and they weren’t all about that number on the scale.
Since joining LSF, I can do several different types of pushups and I can also do a lot of different types of exercises with a sandbag. My proudest accomplishments so far have been my cardio and endurance. I can run stronger for longer than before. As a person with asthma, cardio has always been a weak point. I recently ran 10 km without stopping and that was something I could never do before. The best thing about my LSF program are the trainers and the programs that they create for me as I go through my Military training. Their programs are something that I know I can follow for a long time and still achieve all my goals.
What I’m looking to accomplish next is conquering pull ups. Every small step in training for a pull up, I get a little closer to my goal. I’m also looking forward to running a half-marathon one day. Joining the Canadian Armed Forces has always been a dream of mine, I never thought I would be fit enough to join. Thanks to Lean Strong Fitness, I know that’s not only a dream, but now a reality. I would definitely recommend LSF to all my friends and family.
