Note from Krista’s Coach, Ben:
Krista came to me with what I would say are typical goals for many of our clients – lose weight, get stronger, improve energy and feel better and more comfortable in her clothes.
We always ask about measurables so we know what matters to that person in terms of results, and Krista said building a consistent routine (she works shift work so consistency is tough). The kicker – she wanted to run 12 races – one per month – this year.
This is a big goal, but I am a believer in shoot for the moon and land above the stars. With a good plan and the right support, people are incredibly capable and able to accomplish astonishing things.
Well, Krista is a great example of accomplishing astonishing things —
The 12 races are complete.
She’s strong – she can deadlift over 150lbs!
She looks awesome.
And the reason why is exactly how she wanted to measure results – she’s built a consistent routine – despite shift work, being a mother, and all the other challenges life throws at us.
I have a million more great things to say, but it’s a pleasure working with Krista and I am beyond excited to see what we can accomplish next!
What made you decide you wanted/needed to start a program?
I made a goal to run 12 races in 12 months beginning January 2016, and I knew I needed to stay motivated and plan ahead to complete this. Ben was able to provide guidance, encouragement and expertise to come up with a workout plan that was tailored for me.
What were your 1-2 most important goals when you started?
- Stay injury free
- Get stronger and be a good role model for my children
- Fat loss
I know it’s 3, but I like to be optimistic!
In one to three sentences, can you describe any reservations that you had before we started working together?
I was worried that Lean Strong fitness would not be able to accommodate my needs as I am a shift worker.
I was also intimated working with free weights. In the past I had belonged to a popular gym chain and was started off being told to lift heavier than I was able to. Feeling weak and embarrassed that was my last day there.
In one to three sentences, can you explain how I was able to help you with your reservations?
Ben has come up with training programs where I am able to track how much I have progressed and each program builds onto the next. As well as providing an environment where all ‘family’ members are friendly and encouraging to each other.
What results have you achieved since starting your program? How do those results make you feel?
I have had the confidence to complete my goal of 12 races in 11 months! One month earlier than anticipated, injury free and amazingly with little recovery time after each race. This sounds funny but, there were a couple times in the middle of some really tough longer races where I could hear Ben in my head telling me ‘you’ve got this’.
I am excited to plan out my new goals for 2017 and see what I can accomplish. I’ve actually been debating recently about applying to the New York City Marathon!

What do you like best about our program?
I’ve really enjoyed getting stronger and being able to lift heavier – for me :). I find I really like the challenge and the outcome!
Is there anything you want to add about our program that you’d want someone else to know?
I think I would like others to know about everything else offered when you are a part of Lean Strong Fitness.
Ben, Austin, Pam and Amanda provide access to seminars, small group classes, friendly lifestyle challenges, discussions on social media and are open to suggestions for other ideas. Basically, the team really listens to their clients’ needs and puts them first.
