-A note from Tim’s Coach, Ben
“When I first met Tim in our consultation he told me “Just tell me what to do, and I’ll do it”. We hear this a lot and even though I know everyone who says it means it, very few actually do it.
Despite a busy schedule managing a team at work and prioritizing his family and 2 kids, Tim is one of the few who followed through. And his results are nothing short of astounding.
He came here to hit the “reset button” so he could make his 50’s some of the healthiest years of his life – he wanted to get his mobility back to stay active, drop some of the weight he put on since playing rugby and build his strength, partially to help with his knee which wasn’t 100% after surgery.
In only a few short months Tim has pretty much hit all those goals. He’s stronger, he moves better, things just don’t ache like they used to, and there is the ongoing joke that all is custom suits – that were tailored to fit before he joined – hang off him and need to be brought in.
I wish we could take the credit for his changes, but Tim did exactly what he said he would. He shows up, he works hard, he made sustainable changes to his food choices, and above all he’s consistent. Even better, he’s a blast to have in the studio and makes friends with all the members, and when you have him in a session there is no surprise he’s got the results he has – he does the work and fits it around his lifestyle.
Now Tim is on track to really lock in his results and maintain them for life and make his 50s some extremely healthy years, and we’re all excited to see what he can do!”
Words from Tim:
I first contacted Ben on the advice of some people I knew, as I was looking for a place to rehabilitate my knee and associated atrophied muscles after a fairly aggressive leg operation. I was a little hesitant at first as I had spent years making excuses about having no time etc… and if I ever needed an excuse, I was barely back to walking at the time.
In reality, I was a former athlete who had really been on a downward spiral of activity with increasing knee problems year after year. I was at the point where I hadn’t been able to walk any distance without discomfort and a limp. I remember my first month or two walking up the stairs to the gym limping my way in (this time due to recovery from knee surgery) and wondering if maybe it was too soon.
Fast forward almost 6 months and I have zero limp for the first time in years and I would say that I have fully recovered from the surgery.
With that and some defined goals in my rear view (weight loss, mobility, strength gain), we have now plotted a course for my 50th in four months and have been putting together some very defined goals which I have no doubt I will reach with the assistance of Ben and his team.
Lean Strong Fitness has completely changed the way I look at working out and proper eating. None of it has to be painful, it only need be thoughtful and done with purpose.
I’m only in the gym 3 days a week, and don’t miss many get-togethers on the neighbour’s porch, but the result have been noticeable and enjoyable.
The funny thing was that Ben jokes that his target client is 47 with two kids and a bad knee. We have laughed that I was just about what he was looking for, except perhaps a couple years too old.
Joining this gym has been hands down one of the best decisions I have made.
