— A note from Skye’s coach, Austin:
I am amazed by the transformation Skye has undergone in less than a year – she is a stronger, leaner and more confident woman than ever before – a product of her constant dedication over the last 9+ months to becoming her best self.
Skye came to us with a background in varsity athletics and a great deal of experience in the gym – she definitely knew her stuff. So I am incredibly thankful that she gave us the opportunity to channel that inner motivation that allowed her to achieve her body weight and fitness goals (eg. her first pushups from the floor).
Skye has taken the mantle from the clients who graduated before her, becoming an example of the hard work and consistency it takes to be successful: showing up for training twice per week, completing her home workouts, and sticking faithfully to her nutrition plan.
Now, she continues to work towards new and exciting fitness goals and looks absolutely great doing it!
Keep rocking those tanks Skye 🙂
What made you decide you wanted/needed to start a program?
I had recently started working out and exercising again after a long time away from it.
I was looking for something that would keep me motivated, keep me interested, something and someone that would push me and a fitness plan that was different from what I had been doing.
Ben, Austin and Pam were the perfect fit and provided exactly what I was looking for.
What was your life like prior to starting at Lean Strong Fitness?
Prior to starting at Lean Strong Fitness I was going to the gym and lifting weights, but was doing so without any real direction or purpose – and I was spending way more time in the gym than I needed to.
The training plan that Austin provided allowed me to work with a purpose and taught me how to be more efficient in my workouts.
What were your most important goals when you started? Why were these important to you?
I had always hated my arms and would never wear anything sleeveless in public – my arms always had to be covered or I just wasn’t comfortable. I started my training plan in July 2016 and at that time, I remember telling Ben that I wanted to be able to wear a tank top/sleeveless dress by the following summer.
Fast forward to April 2017 and I confidently wore a tank top to the gym for the first time ever and a sleeveless dress to a recent formal event.
Describe any reservations that you had before we started working together? Why did you have these reservations?
As a former varsity athlete and elite level coach, I was used to a high training load (4-5 days/week for 1.5-2 hours at a time), and I was skeptical that I could get the results I wanted in a 45 minute session twice a week.
In addition, I was used to a big gym environment, with lots of machines and fancy equipment.
Explain how we were able to help you with your reservations. What were some specifics we were able to help you with?
When I was lifting weights on my own, I was typically doing the same weights for each exercise, the traditional 3 sets of 12 reps – and not seeing any results.
I liked how the program that Austin gave me had varying ranges for reps/sets and that we would increase the weights as needed to insure that I was pushing myself. But one of the best things I find is that you don’t have the same distractions that you would in a traditional gym setting – the small group training environment is ideal.
And I’ve learned that you don’t need all the fancy machines and equipment to see results.
What results have you achieved since starting your program? What are your proudest accomplishments so far?
Since starting my training program, I have reached my goal weight and I can now do regular push-ups for the first time in my life!
My arms and shoulders are toned and and my legs are stronger and leaner than they have ever been.
How is your life better now that you have achieved these results? Is there anything you can do now that you didn’t do or were hesitant to do before?
I definitely find that my sleep patterns have improved, I have more energy and I am happier and more confident not just in my physical appearance but in general.
The physical gains that I have experienced keep me motivated and makes me want to keep pushing myself.
I am always proud when I progress to new exercises that I have seen other clients doing and have the utmost confidence in Austin to continue to push me to new levels that I never even knew I had within me.
What do you want to accomplish next?
We have started the progression and I will get there. I never truly imagined I had it in me, but if Austin has it in my program, then I have trust in the process and know that it will happen.
What do you like best about our program and how would you tell your friends about us and what we do?
I like the small group-training environment and the team atmosphere of the staff and clientele.
Everyone is very friendly and supportive – I always love a “Good Day Skye” from Pam when I walk through the door, and I love that the ages and fitness levels varies from person to person, as do the goals of each individual.
When I first started, there were other clients that I was in awe of in terms of the things that they were doing – these people helped keep me motivated. And now, I am doing a lot of those same exercises, and hopefully as such I am motivating other new clients in that same way.
A lot of people have noticed the changes to my body that I have made over the last 8 months and ask me how I have done it – I tell them all about Lean Strong Fitness and had no reservations in recommending the Lean Strong Fitness team to my colleagues and friends.
