—A note from Nicole’s Coach, Austin:
Nicole has been a ton of fun to work with! From the moment I met her, I knew I was speaking to someone who was experienced in the fitness world and truly committed to reaching the next level in her triathlon training, pain-free.
Nicole always comes to her sessions dressed to impress (looking good is half the fun after all!) and prepared to give her best effort. It’s been a real joy watching Nicole reach and surpass her personal strength goals, which you’ll read about below. None of this would have been possible without her strong work ethic and enthusiasm to tackle each and every challenge she’s presented with (like the bottoms up carry).
She has become a role model in our community: kind and welcoming to others when she’s on the floor, invested in the long-term vision while she accomplishes the short-term goals, a leader by example who WOWs us on a regular basis with what she’s capable of.
Congratulations on all your results Nicole, I’m so excited to see what you do this off-season!
You ARE worth it 🙂
What made you decide you wanted/needed to start a program?
As a runner, I am prone to repeat injuries and was tiring of the band aid effect through physio treatments. I was at the point that I was in physio at least once a month.
I decided it was time to make time to get to the source of my injuries to strengthen myself.
What was your life like prior to starting at Lean Strong Fitness?
I’ve been a runner all my life and a triathlete for the last 9 years. Interestingly, I joined triathlon as an injury prevention method through cross training.
It worked for a while and I really loved the disciplines of triathlon. It was a challenge to learn how to swim and bike and I’m still learning.
I’m active 5-6 days a week all year with increased intensity during our on season.
What were your most important goals when you started? Why were these important to you?
My single most important goal is injury prevention then and still now.
I really enjoy being active and when injured it puts a serious dent/cramp in my lifestyle.
I’m not getting any younger (I really hate that phrase but it’s reality) and I’m noticing my injuries are getting more severe and taking so much longer to recover.
Describe any reservations that you had before we started working together? Why did you have these reservations?
The cost of the program and the commitment (I did 18 months) with these payments. I had not had any success with gyms in the past, my own fault. I’d join and within 3 months I’d be bored.
Explain how we were able to help you with your reservations. What were some specifics we were able to help you with?
Ben was very patient and always available to explain the initial costs coming out of my account.
The program was personalized and just challenging enough to encourage me. Both Ben and Austin helped me realize and appreciate that I am worth it.
If I don’t look after myself, who will?
What results have you achieved since starting your program? What are your proudest accomplishments so far?
Deadlifts!! When Austin and Ben told me I could be lifting my own body weight or up to 1 ½ times my bodyweight I was more than doubtful. “Yeah right, my noodle arms” I knew I had zero upper body strength.
But Austin’s program had me lifting more and so gradually I wasn’t even aware I was lifting more than 1 ½ my body weight.
My entire body is toned and my arms look great!! My teenage daughter and her friends call me ‘jacked’. It’s rewarding to be an inspiration to my daughter.
She’s awed by what I am able to do through Lean Strong Fitness.
How is your life better now that you have achieved these results? Is there anything you can do now that you didn’t do or were hesitant to do before?
Over the course of our various goals and challenges, I’ve learned to continue to learn and to view my results in their proper perspective. I recently had a goal to lose 10 pounds in 2 months and 1 inch off my waist and hips. I hit 8 pounds and lost the inch off my hips and waist.
In its perspective, I lost fat as the inch indicates and gained muscle as we know weighs more than fat.
Overall, I’m leaner, stronger and as this was during my triathlon race season, I’m fitter too.
What do you want to accomplish next?
I am very happy with the way my body feels and looks right now, I’ll bask in the rewards of all my hard work these past 14 months and I’ll be working towards a new goal next week!!
There’s always another goal and I’m always learning.
What do you like best about our program and how would you tell your friends about us and what we do?
As long as you are prepared to show up, Lean Strong Fitness is a great fit for you.
