When it comes to reaching your health and fitness goals, there are some hot topics that people love to discuss…
… Exercise, HIIT, protein, calorie tracking, and super secret foods that if you do just this one thing all your hopes and dreams will come true (well, according to the clickbait article title at least).
My hunch is they are the go-to things because they get a rise out of people.
Tracking calories is effective, completely sucks, and is good at getting people to argue on Facebook about it.
HIIT is controversial. Do you do it? Do you not do it? How do you even do it right?
And clickbait titles will always get clicks, even if they are junk.
Do you know what doesn’t get talked about much?
- Stress management
- Sleep hygiene
- Getting a full 7- 8 hours of sleep each night
My hunch is they don’t get talked about because they aren’t as controversial. There’s no end game for marketers.
Case in point, nobody is going to argue chronic stress is good for you or getting a good night’s sleep is not important.
But they are some of the most important factors that work behind the scenes to amplify – or if they aren’t addressed, sabotage – your results.
Chronic stress can force your body to store extra body fat, slows down muscle building, and can even cause problems for your metabolism.
Yes, you read that right – chronic stress can have negative effects on your metabolism, which can be further amplified if you are going through something else that affects your metabolism, such as menopause.
Similarly, if you aren’t getting enough quality sleep, you already know the symptoms.
Brain fog, decreased immune function leading to getting sick more frequently, craving far too many delicious carbs at night, and increased stress (which leads to all of the above).
It’s a downward spiral, and the only way out is to be intentional about changing your habits.
For many people, some of the most powerful habits they can adopt are stress management and sleep hygiene, which can even have a better return than nutrition and exercise habits.
Once improved, it’s like removing the emergency brake so you can get the full benefit of your efforts, and not feel like crap from being overstressed and overtired along the way.
Where do you start?
Well, you’re in luck!
Based on popular demand and overwhelming positive feedback, we’re bringing back Coach Pam’s Rest and Rejuvenation Yoga.
It’s specifically to help you relax, decrease stress, and get a better night’s sleep.
This runs once a week, for 6 weeks, on Sundays from 8:30-9:15pm, starting on June 4th, and it’s less than $15/week.
And best of all, the sessions are all virtual so you can do them from the comfort of your own home, in your PJs, and you can roll into bed as soon as the session is done, to enjoy the best night’s sleep you’ve had in ages.
This is open to everyone – members, friends, family, and everyone else of all experience levels. Pam does a tremendous job meeting everyone where they’re at, so if you’re nervous if this is for you, don’t be. You’ll do fantastic, and feel fantastic.
Sessions will be recorded, so if you can’t make every one, you can still watch the recordings, follow along and get all the benefits.
