Have you ever noticed how everyone seems to be trying a new diet?
Your friend’s doing keto, your co-worker is raving about intermittent fasting, your cousin’s on a juice cleanse—and for a moment, it seems like it’s working.
They drop a few pounds. They look a bit leaner. They post their “day 7 update” with a smile.
But then what?
Weeks (or sometimes days) later, the weight creeps back, the cravings hit hard, and the motivation fades.
Most people I talk to have tried some form of dieting (including myself) and so I wanted to share some of my thoughts about it…
Fad Diets Are Everywhere
They’re all over your feed: “Drop 10 lbs in a week!” “Lose belly fat FAST!” “No carbs, no problem!”
Some of the most popular ones we see floating around are:
- Keto – cut carbs drastically to “burn fat for fuel.”
- Intermittent Fasting – eat only within a short window.
- Carnivore – eat nothing but animal products (yes, only meat).
- Juice Cleanses – nothing but liquid “detoxes” for days.
- Paleo, Atkins, Low-Fat, Low-Calorie… the list goes on.
The internet promises that these will change your life.
But let’s be real—have you ever met someone who’s kept the weight off for good on one of these?
Me neither.
Here’s Why They Don’t Work
Most of these diets fail for one big reason: they’re not built for real life.
They’re built for control.
For extremes.
For rapid changes that your body—and brain—can’t keep up with long-term.
- They often cut out entire food groups, leading to nutrient deficiencies and major cravings.
- They require unsustainable willpower—try saying no to your birthday cake every year.
- They create all-or-nothing mindsets that leave you feeling like a failure if you slip up.
And the worst part?
They can mess with your relationship with food.
You start labeling foods as “good” or “bad,” feeling guilty for eating something “off-plan,” and thinking your body is the problem—when really, the diet was never designed to support you long term.
So What Does Work?
What we’ve seen time and time again is this: small, consistent habits beat quick fixes every single time.
Instead of trying to overhaul your entire life overnight, imagine starting with just one thing—
Like adding a serving of vegetables to lunch,
or drinking more water during the day,
or taking a short walk after dinner.
These small changes build momentum. They stack. They become habits—and that’s when things really shift.
It’s not flashy. It doesn’t promise overnight results. But it works.
Because it meets you where you are, and supports the life you actually want to live—not the one some diet trend says you should.
Let’s Do It Differently This Time
If you’re tired of starting over, if you’ve done the diets and detoxes and “just one more round of keto,”
Maybe it’s time to try something that actually sticks.
At Lean Strong, we focus on habit-based coaching that helps you build a lifestyle—not just a temporary plan.
Our clients see real, lasting change—not because they were perfect, but because they got consistent support and learned how to make choices that fit their lives.
You don’t need another fad. You just need a better foundation.
